Dear Parents,

In PRAJNA classes, children and adults learn our great tradition and culture. His Holiness Sri Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Ramanuja Chinna Jeeyar Swamiji of Andhra Pradesh, India, directs the worldwide program to bring an awareness of values and morals back into the society. His Holiness attaches a lot of importance to practicing the vedic tradition in this scientific age so that we do not forget our past and implement the treasure of knowledge passed on to us through generations by our great sages.
 
What is Prajna?
Prajna is the ability to translate good knowledge into action.
 
About Sri Swamyji:
His Holiness Sri Chinna Jeeyar Swa:miji is a prodigious and young acharya and a noble saint who has mastered different branches of the Vedic Literature, Sanathana Dharma, Divya Prabandham, Srimad Bhagavad Gita, RamayaNam, Bha:gavatham and several scriptures. Ascending to ascetic order (sanyasi - monkhood) 27 years ago, at a very young age, Sri Jeeyar Swa:mi:ji started Jeeyar Educational Trust (JET), an
educational, social and charitable organization with Vedic university, affiliated colleges and residential schools dispensing holistic education and extending a helping hand to the needy ones.
 
What are the Offerings?
Prajna Classes are offered for children and adults. Classes are conducted as per syllabus prescribed by Sri Swamiji. Besides the different modules for children, classes are also offered in different tracks for learning various stotrams and bhajans. Students will learn basics of our tradition, get familiar with vocabulary and terminology, get introduced to vedic literature, stories from our itiha:sas and pura:Nas, learn biographies of great teachers and devotees, le arn slo:kas and prayers, understand virtues and values and much more. Wherever possible, there are also classes scheduled for learning their native language, music, dance, arts etc. There will be community fuctions organized for special occassions involving all 'Prajna' families.
 
Classes are conducted once in a week for 60-75 minutes. We encourage the parents and children to participate together in the program.. Classes for Parents/Adults will also be conducted on selected topics. Functions will be organized in celebration of festivals and important events. Students and families enjoy an integrated learning experience.

Current Class Timings and Location:
Sunday from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Santhinikathan  Temple, 7221 Branica Drive, Roanoke, VA - 24018.
 
Who can Learn:
Anyone with interest in reviving the tradition and regaining the knowledge; Age limit: Children with 4 years and above.  Every effort will be made to group like students in one class. Everyone starts with module 1 and progresses along the Prajna track.

Is there any homework:
Every student is expected to practice the slokas and other lessons at home at least
3-4 times in a week. There is an activity sheet to be completed at home during the week.
Missed classes need to be rescheduled with the Prajna teacher on one-on-one basis during the week.

Can I volunteer?
We are in need of volunteers and you are invited to sign up to help in teaching the
children or assisting the Prajna teachers. Training will be provided in Prajna curriculum.
